We host light shows synched to video and music annually at 1406 Hickory Street, Niceville, FL for Halloween and Christmas. I will post more specific updates to the home page about the shows between September and December.

In general, the Halloween show runs every Thursday through Sunday in October, plus Halloween night, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM CST. The Christmas show runs every Thursday through Sunday in December, plus Christmas Eve, from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM CST. I will generally run the show at any time that it is not actively raining.

In the interest of maintaining my neighbors’ (remaining) sanity, we do not project audio during the show. Please turn your car’s radio to 107.1 FM to hear the audio.

There is a Geocache directly in front of my house (it’s mine, no worries), if you’re into that kind of thing.

FAQs

1. How many light bulbs are in the show? As of the Christmas 2025 show, we are controlling somewhere around 4,800 individual pixels.
   
   
2. Is your power bill higher? Not noticeably. We have come a long way since National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I have measured our output with a multimeter and we can safely run the current show, projector, and laptop on a 15 amp circuit with room for expansion.
   
   
3. How much does this cost? I guess it depends heavily on what exactly you’re doing. Remember also that time == money, and you’re going to spend a lot of time on this.
   
   
4. How long does this take you to do? Probably a solid week of sequencing, another week to build and install the decorations because I’m always adding new stuff, another day to test and fix stuff.
   • That doesn’t sound so bad…? Yeah, well, it wasn’t exactly pretty the first few times around.
     
     
5. If you strung all the wiring and lights in the show end-to-end, how far would it reach? No one has ever asked me this. I just estimated it once at somewhere just over one mile and suppose I want to flex. There are a lot of extensions hiding in the gutters.
