Starting Summer 2026, we are offering services for designing and constructing customized synchronized light shows at homes and businesses along the Emerald Coast of Florida (Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay Counties).
The cost and of each project will depend primarily on the number of decorations within the show and the length of the synchronized sequence. We will provide a variety of design options to meet different budgets.
We offer three general kinds of audio-light synchronization:
Retrofitting your current exterior lighting or holiday lighting to be synchronized to music.
Designing and installing permanent, year-round lighting that is capable of audio synchronization.
Designing and installing a temporary display for events and holidays.
The first step toward building your customized light show is an on-site consultation. Then, I will create a family of potential show designs with several pricing optionsand will begin the synchronization and set-up process as soon as the design is finalized.
In most cases, yes. Note that any shows using standard store-bought LEDs will not feature dynamic color effects, which require RGB channels.
Right now, I estimate that the process to move from an initial design to the final on-site testing would run between one and four weeks, depending on the size of the show and the complexity and length of the sequence. I am working on streamlining the build and test process to reduce these turnaround times. Let me know your deadline, and I will make every effort to work within your timeline.
The total project cost depends on many factors: 1) the size of the show (number of lighting elements), 2) the duration of the show, 3) the level of effort required for sequencing, 4) the number of custom-built decorations requested if any, among other factors. I can provide cost estimates for different show designs. We will not proceed with construction until you are satisfied with the design and cost.
The cost for sequencing only depends on the length of the audio, not its complexity.
Theoretically, any piece of audio (including dialog and sound effects) can be synchronized. My sequences have ranged from G-rated (“Spooky Scary Skeletons”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”) to PG-13 (Eminem, Korn, Limp Bizkit), depending on the intended audience.
I have a library of on-hand sequences that I can quickly adapt to any show design, including many holiday “classics” and certain pop songs (Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan). If I have not sequenced your song before, I would include that effort in the project’s pricing.
No, other than a (preferably dedicated) circuit and enough room for the necessary hardware. Temporary installations would effectively “rent” our equipment, while permanent installations would require the purchase of dedicated equipment. In either case, we will determine the equipment required and corresponding cost and handle the procurement through our suppliers.
Our suppliers are based in the United States and produce professional-grade, exceptionally weather-proofed equipment and support for our shows.
For shows using already-installed decorations or small setups with fewer than thirty decorations, I am happy to handle all the on-site setup. For larger shows in certain areas, I have partnered with Impact Lightscapes & Outdoor Audio, LLC who will provide professional installation of your decorations.
Yes. Many websites sell corrugated plastic-type decorations specifically designed for RGB pixel bulbs in the most popular shapes for holiday shows (e.g., tombstones, pumpkins, Christmas trees, candy canes). However, we can also build custom decorations that use RGB pixels in any arbitrarily defined shape desired.
For highly artistic decorations (i.e., more complex and colorful designs that may also integrate with RGB pixels), I have partnered with a local (Niceville-based) artistic sign production company to design and procure these kinds of special orders.
Yes, this is a simple process and there is no charge for modifications to your show, unless I need to sequence a new piece of audio in the process. I can modify the show instructions as many times as requested with no further customer involvement.
I am dedicated to providing lifetime service and maintenance of all light shows. There will never be any cost to you for maintenance, troubleshooting, or training after installation. Incremental upgrades, such as adding a new decoration to the design, will be priced according to the cost to procure, build, and install the decoration. Updates to your sequences to incorporate any of these kinds of design modifications are included.
The show’s sound can play through any audio system or it can be broadcast over an FM radio station via a transmitter that we will provide. Our transmitters comply with FCC regulations regarding signal range such that no license is required to broadcast on clear FM frequencies.
We will identify a clear channel to use in your area to minimize interference.
Yes, all shows can include synchronized video and/or animations using an RGB matrix screen.
Yes! I am happy to help you get started with sequencing on your own. If you would like to “learn as we go”, we would need to extend your project’s timeline, but I am happy to work as closely with you on the setup as you desire.
In a vast majority of cases, no. Modern LEDs and the RGB pixels provided by our suppliers draw an extremely low amperage, even when “on” at full power. I have taken some measurements at various points during my shows and, for instance, estimated the cost to run my 2025 Halloween show for 2 1/2 hours each night to be about $0.25. This includes an always-running projector. My October 2025 power bill might then have been $5 higher specifically due to the Halloween light show.
I don’t run my own shows in moderate or heavy rain out of an abundance of caution; however, all of the equipment is completely waterproof and can be operated safely in wet conditions. In four years of Florida weather, I have not had a single decoration or controller break due to moisture.
By default, we will use “show director” hardware that eliminates the need for an on-site computer, unless using a laptop is your preference.
This is admittedly a little complicated, but it’s probably best answered here. In short, private residential drive-up shows that are free of charge, like ours in Niceville, seem to be OK on this front. If your show is going to be used for a commercial purpose, we would need to ensure any licensing-related issues are worked through before we start to work on the sequencing.
Copyright considerations can also affect prop designs and the availability of synchronized video, and for commercial projects we may need to seek a license to use the likeness of heavily copyrighted figures (e.g., Disney characters).
I’m proud to say that even in this age of connectivity maximalism, no.
This also means that the show will continue to run if your Wifi goes out.
Believe it or not, yes. I have never done this before and, per Florida Statute 791.08, this would seem to be illegal other than on the 4th of July and New Years Eve without special permission. Nonetheless, there is a way to coordinate our sequences with IGNITE.
